We aim to answer all of
your queries, if you
cannot find the answer to your question here, please contact copperwood
log cabins here.
What are the advantages of a Copperwood
log cabin over other log cabins?
Our cabins are custom built to your requirements and at very competitive
prices. Our log cabins are solidly constructed from pine timber and are
built to last. Door and window positions can be chosen by the customer.
Do I need planning permission for
a log cabin?
See Planning permission
What kind of foundation do we recommend?
Ideally Copperwood recommend a solid level concrete, breeze blocks, brick pillars, paving slab or screed
base to a depth of 6 inches (15cm). We provide this service if required,
however, depending on ground conditions you may only require a hardcore
base, paving slabs or railway sleepers (ensuring the surface is level).
Do I have to do anything to take
delivery of a building?
Copperwood recommend that access is cleared to the area of construction.
The pallets are 6m long and 2m wide, we will drop the pallets as close
as we can to the construction site. Our log cabins are delivered on hi-ab lorries.
What kind of timber is used in Copperwood
log cabins?
Our cabins are all cut from pine timber, they are grown in a cold climate
and grow with tighter rings and therefore are stronger and more robust.
They come in pine or spruce kiln dried with a choice of three thicknesses 50, 70 and 94mm. We recommend
that if you intend to use the cabin frequently throughout the year 70mm
or 94mm logs provide the best insulation and protection.
What kind of roofing materials do Copperwood
recommend?
Copperwood do not supply the final roof covering, but felt shingles are attractive and adequate for the purpose.
Can Copperwood design a cabin to
the customers specification?
Yes. (See bespoke products)
Are doors and windows supplied
with glazing?
Yes, all our log cabins are glazed with sealed units. The price includes
all door and window brass furniture and locks.
How should I maintain my log cabin?
The exterior timber should be treated with a good quality wood preserver, we recommend Sikkens or Sandolin. Treatment should be carried out as specified by the brand you choose. This will prolong the life of your log cabin.
Can I have electricity in my log
cabin?
Yes, but from Jan 1st 2005 all electrical work must be completed in accordance
with lEE wiring regulation BS 7671 and installed by an approved electrician.
Do we install electrics and plumbing?
No, but we can arrange work to be carried out by local companies.
How far away can we deliver and
assemble?
We can deliver and assemble nationwide. We will deliver as close as we
can to your construction site.
What is the cost of delivery and
assembly?
This is dependant on location.
What is the delivery time?
Between 6 – 8 weeks.
How long will it take to erect
a log cabin?
This depends on the size of the building. Usually we deliver and construct
log cabins within a normal working week.
Is wood treatment included?
No, but we can also provide this service.
Do you have a show home or office
that I can visit?
Yes, but with a little notice, we will be more than happy to arrange for you to
visit one of our existing customers’ buildings in your area.
Could I erect the building myself?
We will provide you with an assembly guide free of charge with your new
building. In addition we have a telephone support just in case you need
assistance. The time it will take to construct depends on a number of
factors: the weather, your experience and the support that you have.
What are your payment terms?
If you order over the telephone we simply require a 25% deposit to place
your order with our factory. The balance is due upon delivery. Construction
costs are paid once the building is completed to the customers satisfaction.
